Teton Regional Land Trust; Michael B. Whitfield New!!

Background:  The Teton Regional Land Trust has created this scholarship in honor of
             Michael B Whitfield, who helped found the Organization in 1990 and 
             served as its Executive Director for 18 years. Michael's passion for and 
             commitment toland conservation initially in Teton Valley, then 
             throughout the UpperSnake River Watershed, has been instrumental in 
             the preservation of key landscapes in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.

Value:       $1000

Eligibility: Candidates must be graduating seniors who live in the Teton Regional
             Land trust service area (). These counties include Bonneville, Clark, 
             Fremont, Jefferson, Madison, Teton and parts of Bingham, Butte, Caribou, 
             and Lemhi in Idaho and Teton County, Wyoming West of the Tetons.
             Candidates must show an intention to pursue a major cource of study in
             college or vocational school in the enviromental sciences, biology,
             ecollgy, environmental planning or policy, agriculture, or a related
             field. Candidates must have a grade pooint average of at least 3(of 4).

Application: In an  essay of up to two pages, candidates should explain their 
             philosophy regarding environmental issues. The essay should contain
             examples of experience with and involvement in local, regoinal, or
             national environmental concerns. Candidates should include a discription
             of how they see themselves affecting environmental matters in the future.

      On a separate page, candidates should include the following:
             Name, Address, Phone
             Parents/Guardians
             Current high school
             Expected graduation date
             Colleges/Universities or Technical Schools applied to and intended course of study
             Transcript
             References- minimum of three non-family
             Any other information the candidate would like to include
             Signiture

Applications must be received by April 1. Recipient will be named by May 1.
