Shelley Kiwanis Community Service Scholarship
Kiwanis International is a worldwide organization consisting of local clubs dedicated to service in their communities. In order to support the attitude and desire of our young people toward service, the Shelley Kiwanis Club offers an annual educational monetary award of $500.00 each to a student in the Shelley and Firth School Districts.
This award is to be used for educational purposes and is paid to the institution of higher learning of the recipient's choice (which could be a technical school, college, or university). Verification of registration must be supplied to teh Shelley Kiwanis Club before disbursements of funds are made.
REQUIREMENTS
1. Must be a Shelley of Firth High School Senior.
2. Must submit the following documents:
a. Application
b. Essay-- Describe your service contributions to your community over the past three years, with an emphasis on the current school year. Please indicate how the project originated and who or what group of people recieved benefit.
c. Letters of Recommendation- submit a minimum of two letters of recommendation from adults (other than parents) who are familiar with your service experiences.
3. Application Deadline: Monday, April 19, 2010
4. Turn applications in to: Firth High School (Jeff Gee)
SELECTION FACTORS:
1. Community service activities as described in essay.
2. Letters of recommendation.
3. If the applicant pool is inadequate or does not show adequate service to merit the award in the opinion of the selection committee, the Shelley Kiwanis Clube reserves the right to not make an award.
